Sticker maker with white border, from any photo

Gifsy's sticker maker cuts the subject out of your photo with an AI model in this tab and traces a white border around it, 0 to 40 px thick, in any colour, with an optional soft shadow. You get a transparent 512×512 PNG and a WebP. Free, no sign up, and your photo is never uploaded.

How to add a white border to a photo sticker

Three steps, all in this tab. The border isn't a rectangle around the photo. It follows the outline of whatever the AI cut out, the way a die-cut sticker does.

  1. 1

    Add a photo

JPG, PNG or WebP with one clear subject. The background removal runs in your browser.

  2. 2

    Set the white border

Drag the outline from 0 to 40 px, keep it white or pick any colour, and leave the shadow on or turn it off.

  3. 3

    Make sticker, then download

A transparent 512×512 PNG with the border baked in, plus a WebP sized for Telegram.

What the white outline actually does

The subject is cut out, then its silhouette is stamped in white in rings around the edge, so the border stays an even width around ears, fingers and corners instead of looking like a stroke drawn with a pen. Telegram's own sticker guide recommends the same look: “a transparent background, white stroke and black shadow effect will make your sticker stand out.” That's why white and the shadow are both on when the page loads.

  • Border

    0 to 40 px

Starts at 16 px on a 512 px sticker.

  • Colour

    White or any colour

    Picker next to the slider.

  • Shadow

    Soft, on by default

Turn it off for a flat look.

  • Output

    512×512 PNG + WebP

    Transparent around the border.

There's also an optional caption of up to 24 characters, drawn in capitals along the bottom with a dark stroke, if you want a reaction sticker.

Where a white-bordered sticker works, and where it doesn't

  • Works well
  • Telegram sticker packs, with the 512×512 WebP
  • Discord, Slack, Signal and iMessage, pasted as an image
  • Reaction images and memes with a caption
  • Slides, docs and social posts where the photo sits on a busy background
  • Not the right tool
  • Die-cut printing: that needs a vector cut line, and this makes a PNG
  • Large prints: 512 px is sized for screens
  • A double border, or two colours: there's one outline
  • WhatsApp sticker packs: those need an app on the phone

Photos that take a clean border

The border traces the cut-out, so it's only as clean as the cut. A face, a pet or an object on a plain or blurred background cuts well. Fly-away hair, fur against grass, glass and a subject touching the edge of the frame leave a soft or nibbled edge, and the border follows it. A thicker border hides a ragged edge; cropping closer before you add the photo helps more.

Questions

How thick can the white border be?

Anywhere from 0 to 40 pixels on a 512-pixel sticker. It starts at 16, which reads as a classic die-cut sticker edge. The sticker is scaled down to leave room, so even a 40 px border never gets clipped.

Can I change the border colour?

Yes. White is the default because it stands out on both light and dark chat backgrounds, but the colour picker next to the outline slider takes any colour.

Does it remove the background too?

Yes, automatically. An AI model cuts the subject out when you press Make Sticker, then the border is traced around the cut-out. There's no manual erase brush, so a photo with a clear subject on a plain background gives the cleanest edge.

Can I use it for printed stickers?

It's made for screens. You get a 512×512 PNG, which is small for print, and die-cut printing needs a vector cut line that this tool doesn't produce. For chats, slides and posts it's the right size.

Is it free, and is my photo uploaded?

Free, with no sign up and no watermark. The photo stays in your browser: the model is downloaded to the tab and the cut-out, border and shadow are all drawn there.

Can I turn it into a Telegram or WhatsApp sticker?

Telegram, yes: the WebP is 512×512 and re-encoded to stay under the 512 KB limit the @Stickers bot enforces. WhatsApp packs, no: WhatsApp only installs packs through an app on the phone. You can still send the PNG there as an image.
