Zoom in GIF maker — zoom into any photo
Gifsy's zoom in GIF maker turns one photo into a looping push-in: the picture eases in to 1.3× and back out, so the end of the loop meets the start. Add a photo, set the speed and download a 480 × 480 GIF. Free, no sign-up, no watermark, and the photo never leaves this tab.

What the Zoom effect does
Each frame redraws the photo as a centre crop that grows from 1.08× to 1.30× and back once per loop, on a smooth ease so there is no jolt at either end. It reads as a slow camera push toward the middle of the picture.
Zoom range
1.08× → 1.30× → 1.08×
One push-in and back per loop.
Centre
Middle of the photo
Crop first to zoom into a detail.
Loop
30 frames
About 1.5 s at 20 fps. Boomerang doubles it.
Output
480 × 480 GIF
Centre crop, one shared palette.
How to make a zoom GIF
- 1
Add a photo
JPG, PNG or WebP. Keep the subject near the middle — the GIF is a square centre crop.
- 2
Zoom is already picked
Set the speed (8–30 fps). Boomerang is off; turn it on to play the loop forward, then back.
- 3
Make GIF, then download
Frames render in your browser in seconds and save as animation.gif.
Photos that suit Zoom
- Works best
- One clear subject in the middle of the frame
- Product shots, food, album covers, portraits
- Photos at least 480 px on the short side
- A detail worth revealing as the zoom lands
- Works worst
- Subjects near the edge — the zoom pushes them out of frame
- Small or low-resolution photos — 1.3× magnifies the softness
- Text near the border, which gets cropped
- Busy scenes with no focal point to push toward
Questions
Sending it to Slack, Discord or GitHub? Check the GIF size limits. More on effects, speed and file size in how to animate a photo into a GIF.
How far does the zoom go?
From 1.08× to 1.30× of a centre crop, and back, once per loop. The motion eases in and out, so the loop has no visible jump.
Can I zoom into one part of the photo?
Not yet — the zoom always heads for the centre. Crop the photo so the detail you want sits in the middle, then add it.
What's the difference between Zoom and Pulse?
Zoom is a bigger, slower push (up to 1.30×) that reads as a camera move. Pulse is smaller (1.02× to 1.14×) and reads as a heartbeat. Use Zoom for a reveal and Pulse for something that should breathe.
Is this a 'zoom in forever' GIF?
No. It pushes in and comes back out. An endless zoom needs a chain of nested images, which this tool doesn't make.
Is it free, and is there a watermark?
Free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many GIFs you make. The only paid thing on Gifsy is credits for the separate 3D model tool.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The frames are drawn and the GIF is encoded by JavaScript in your browser tab; this tool has no upload endpoint. You can check in your browser's Network tab, or turn Wi-Fi off after your first GIF (which loads the encoder) and make another.

Make it move in real 3D
A GIF effect moves the whole picture. A 3D photo separates the subject from the background and lets a visitor tilt it on your page — real parallax from one photo, with an embed code for any website.
